Glass House Fraser's Hill

"Your soul like a glass house, fragile but unbreakable"
SK

Morning rain is a blessing. As the weather is gloomy and the temperature a bit colder, I woke up very early in the morning. I suit the knitted sweater on me. Then I contemplate to myself "the knitted sweater looks good on me, I feel warmer". Just like the warmth of my body, it reflected through to the warm of my heart on that day. I continued my reflecting moment throughout my journey in the car to Dila's house. Thou the heavy rain blessing me along the journey. I'm grateful for that day because I have a chance to spend time on the short gateway with my old friend.

Dila is my childhood friend since 25 years ago. Our friendship last through the test of the time. I met her for the first time circa 1994 when we were in kindergarten. It's a glance to remember all the details but the only significant memory that I can recall until now is when Dila was coming to my house during Hari Raya with her mom. I invited her to play with my masak-masak toys. Her mom is my sister's friend. We were also going to the same primary school and secondary school. I made a different direction when I decided to join boarding school in Klang in 2004. We parted since that year. Intermittently, years by years we contacted each other until now. Just because we have different lifestyle when we're grown up so we still know in the thin line of this friendship we're still fine. I believed in friendship we must respect each other choice of life. Every one of us has different timelines. Connecting every time it's doesn't mean I should care less about them. It's just a matter space in between makes us ponder about the friendship more deeply than ever. What I like about last minute plan is always the best and hell yes it's going to always happen. I and Dila were going to Fraser's Hill for the first time together. She took a break from her responsibility as a mother of two kids and a wife to her husband just to spend time being single again.

Road trip about one hour from Tanjung Malim to Fraser's Hill. Along the spinning road uphill is scrupulously annoyed us. Let's open our history book to recall some fun facts about Fraser's Hill. Fraser's Hill derived its name from a Scottish pioneer, Louis James Fraser who set up tin mine in the 1890s. Located in the Titiwangsa range between Selangor and Pahang border, it has become one of the hill resort in Malaysia. The British heritage architecture found nestled in Fraser's Hill. Beside misty forest and cooling fresh air, this hill is surrounded by the virgin rainforest. It has a few hiking trails for those who are outdoor enthusiasts. Pine trees are flourishing at every corner of this hill.

Our main mission to the hill is to experience the Glass House Fraser's Hill located at Jalan Lady Guillermard. The glass house is the latest attraction in Fraser's Hill since 2018. It's offering leisure vibes in the glasshouse filled with numerous cacti or succulents species. Some of them are for sale from the range of price started RM8. Just 3 minutes walking distance from the clock tower at the central tourist attraction, I amazed by the splendid and gigantic glasshouse from the distance. The glass house also is offering us hipster coffee shop to chill and hang out while oxygenated by the succulents.

Personally, I love the concept of glasshouse nestled in the wild forest. It has been my dream to live off the grid in the tiny house surrounded by nature. Or the concept of a mobile house where I can live like a hippie from one place to another place. The character of the glass house is reflecting who I am and encompassed my value of simplicity, freedom, and transparency. I was the happiest person in the glass house well even just for a short moment.
